Yes, you are obliged to read this carefully.

The tournament shall host the following game modes: osu!standard, Catch the Beat, osu!mania 4K, and osu!mania 7K. In addition, the tournament shall use Score v2as its scoring format, except for Catch the Beat, which shall still use Score v1. Players who ed the osu!standard, and both osu!mania tournaments are required to play on the following osu! Builds: Stable (Latest), Beta, and Cutting Edge.

Section 2 - Mods Used in the Tournament

Section 2.1 - Mod Usage in osu!standard

Rules for mod usage are indicated below. The mod will be applied if the beatmap chosen is included in a specific category in the mappool.

  1. NoMod - No mod is to be used at all for the beatmap.
  2. HR (Hard Rock) – The Hard Rock mod will be used by both participants if the map chosen falls into the Hard Rock category of the mappool.
  3. HD (Hidden) – The Hidden mod will be used by both participants if the map chosen falls into the Hidden category of the mappool.
  4. DT (Double Time) – The Double Time will be used by both participants if the map chosen falls into the Double Time category of the mappool.
  5. FreeMod – Both contestants must use at least ONE mod if the map chosen falls into the FreeMod category of the mappool.
Section 2.2 - Mod Usage in Catch the Beat

The use of HD (Hidden) is permitted when the map being picked is in the HR (Hard Rock) or DT (Double Time) bracket.

Section 2.3 - Mod Usage in osu!mania

For both osu!mania 4K and 7K, the tournament shall assume the osu!mania FreeMod rule. This permits the usage of HD (Hidden), FI (Fade In), or FL (Flashlight during a pick.

Section 3 - Eligibility and Registration

Section 3.1 - General Guidelines

Players who currently have the Philippine Flag on their profile or those players outside the Philippines who can prove their Philippine Citizenship are the only ones allowed to the tournament, regardless of rank on the game mode they are participating in. There is no requirement for the player to understand the Filipino Language as a whole in order to be permitted.

Staff who are not part of the Executive Committee and the Mappool Selectors are permitted to the tourney.

The registration phase of the tournament shall begin on September 21, 2017 and end on October 20, 2017. There are only 32 available slots in the tournament and is on a first come, first serve basis. The players shall be seeded according to a criteria that is to be decided by the tournament organizers as they see fit. Players are allowed to ANY of the four tournaments.

THE TOURNAMENT STAFF HAS THE RIGHT TO REVOKE A PLAYER'S REGISTRATION IF THERE IS ENOUGH EVIDENCE AGAINST THEM.

Section 3.2 - Special Qualifier Round

For the game modes which have exceeded the original allocation of 32 slots, there shall be a special qualifier format introduced in order to reduce the field back to 32 players per game mode. The formats are to be decided by the game mode's Tournament Manager

Section 3.2.1 - Qualifier Round for osu!standard

For osu!standard, the field shall be seeded according to Performance Points and will be put into a head-to-head match and this shall serve as the tournament division's Round of 64. The matches are on a Best-of-7 (First to 4) format, and the results shall carry on to the main tournament bracket for the Round of 32.

Section 3.2.2 - Qualifier Round for osu!mania 4K and 7K

All players that enter the tournament osu!mania 4K and 7K divisions will be eligible to play in the qualification round in order to cut down to participants to thirty-two (32) players, for 4K, and to properly seed the players on 7K. This also doubles as the seeding round going forward to the 4K division's Round of 32.

Players are scheduled alongside each other to play a mini-pool of 4 notecharts twice in a multiplayer room. The notecharts are specially-made for the qualifying round of the tournament and are only ed minutes before the Qualifier pools are revealed. All players are obliged to play ALL of the notecharts during the qualifiers as FAILED SCORES WILL STILL COUNT. In case a player appears late on his schedule, they shall be allowed to catch up after the rest of the notecharts have been played, but if the second iteration has started, the player will not be allowed to anymore and must arrange a reschedule ONE HOUR AFTER his original qualifier room closes.

The room name format is as follows: oPHF17: (Group X). The rooms are made ten minutes prior to the schedule and the referees are obliged to inform you, the player, that he will move you to the room, or send an invite to you instead.

If the process appears to be confusing, there is no need to worry as long as you adhere to your schedule and follow the instructions your referees will give you, or you can also ask the staff on how things go.

Section 4 - Match Proper

Section 4.1 - Preparation
The referees shall prepare the match room ten (10) minutes prior to the match schedule. It is the referee's obligation to inform the players about this and ask whether to move them directly to the room, or to send an invite. If the player does not respond within this time period, the player is forcibly moved at the actual match schedule.

The room name format for the four tournaments is: oPHF17: (Player 1) vs (Player 2)

Defaulting time is ten (10) minutes directly after the actual match schedule. The player who fails to appear in the match within that time period shall be considered as a no-show and the player inside the room already shall be declared the winner. If both players do not appear, the player with the higher seed shall be considered the winner.

Section 4.2 - Warm-up Phase
Each Player is allowed to select warm-up charts for them to play in the room in whatever purpose they have. These must be ed to the osu! servers and have less than four (4) minutes of drain time. Warm-ups that contain questionable content (as defined by the osu! Community Rules) shall be disallowed. Players are also barred from using the Philippine National Anthem as a warm-up song as per the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines.

Section 4.3 - Bans and Picks
After the warm-up phase, the players shall proceed to use the !roll command on the multiplayer chat. The player with the lower !roll score will ban a beatmap/notechart from the pool first, and the player with the higher !roll score will place his own ban next, and immediately, his/her first pick. This means that there will be only one (1) ban from each player. Note that for osu!standard, once a map from a mod bracket is banned, the other player is barred from banning another map from the same mod bracket.

Section 4.4 - Match Format
Players shall alternate picks until a match winner is determined. This shall be in a Best-of-X series with the formats listed as follows:
  1. Round of 32 - Best-of-7 (First to 4)
  2. Round of 16 - Best-of-9 (First to 5)
  3. Quarterfinals - Best-of-11 (First to 6)
  4. Semifinals - Best-of-13 (First to 7)
  5. Finals - Best-of-13 (First to 7)
For osu!standard, the players are prohibited from consecutively picking maps from the same mod bracket on their turn to pick.

In case the players are tied at match point, for example, a 3-3 on the Group Stage, the players the proceed to play the Tiebreaker chart of the pool.

Section 4.5 - Mappools

Each round has its own mappool, with increasing difficulty as the tournament progresses. For osu!standard and osu!catch, the mappool is made to accomodate the mods to be used as explained in Sections 2.1 and 2.2, respectively. For osu!mania 4K and 7K, the mappool is made to accomodate enough for a double match point, one ban per player, an ignored pick, and the tiebreaker.

Section 5 - Rescheduling

Players are allowed to reschedule their matches as long as their opponent have a mutual agreement on this arrangement, and is made before the Thursday prior to the match. This is for the staff to be able to adjust their general schedules for the round, including the streams. If the arrangement is made after the set deadline, the match will still be rescheduled, but there is no assurance that it will be streamed.

For reschedules made after the deadline, the staff shall only consider this if given a valid reason (academics, sickness, family matters) with proof.

Section 6 - Disconnections

Knowing Philippine Internet, Disconnections are unavoidable. In order to keep things fair, the following guidelines are given:

1. If the player disconnects within 10 seconds of the drain time of the pick (the pick is being played), the play will be aborted and shall be repeated once the player re-enters, or gets moved into the room.
2. If the player disconnects within 30 seconds of the drain time of the pick, the play shall continue BUT it will be decided by both players whether to repeat the play, or the play be counted as part of the scoreboard.
3. If the player disconnects beyond 30 seconds of the drain time of the pick, the play shall continue and will be counted as part of the scoreboard.
4. In order to avoid abuse of the system, each player has only one (1) disconnection token per match and is used up once the player does. Any disconnection made after the token is used shall be counted as a point for their opponent. (Only applies for disconnections during the play)
5. Players are only given 10 minutes to return to the room upon disconnection. If the player fails to return, the match score shall be frozen and will be considered the official result. If the player who leads the score is the one who disconnected, the match shall continue, regardless of the player's time of return, and as long as the opponent is present. If the said player fails to return within 30 minutes after disconnection, the player shall be disqualified from the match.
5. Situations uncovered by these clauses (stuck at "Waiting for Other Players" screen, Player disconnection a few seconds prior to score submission, etc.) shall be decided immediately by the staff on-the-spot.

Section 7 - Player and Staff Conduct

Players are expected to be informed about the Rules and Guidelines of this tournament. In addition, the staff shall assure a good experience for the players during the tournament.

Section 7.1 - Match Conduct
The Players and staff are expected to adhere to the Rules and Regulations of the osu! Community. If the player's behavior during the match is not tolerable anymore, the staff has the decision whether to terminate the match and freeze at current score, disqualify the player from the match, or disqualify the player in the tournament as a whole. The staff also have the discretion to change the referee of the match, or kick him/her out of the staff based on the same grounds.

Section 7.2 - Overall Conduct
The players and staff are expected to not be a douche. If the player is seen to be disconnecting from the match without proper justification, the staff may decide to impose the penalties stated in Section 7.1. Also, if the player is in a match that determines the Top 2 of the tournament, regardless of division, and no-shows on that match without proper justification, the player shall be deemed disqualified from the tournament as a whole, and the tournament rankings shall be adjusted accordingly. If the staff member is the one who's at fault, it is the Executive Committee's decision on which penalties the said staff member faces. This may include suspension or termination from service.

In addition, the staff are not able if the player is silenced or restricted during the course of the tournament. In case of the former, the silence duration shall be considered as either the defaulting time, or disconnection time. Thus, if the silence lasts for more than 10 minutes, the said player is deemed to have lost the match by default.

Section 8 - Updates and Concerns

Most of the major updates regarding the tournament shall be posted on this forum thread. All concerns and questions regarding the tournament may be posted on this thread, or via the official osu!Philippines Facebook Group.

How are the rooms made? The match referee assigned to your match will make it.

How are the players matched up? The tournament manager of your game mode shall assign you a seeding number that fits a criteria set for the game mode (e.g. Qualifier Results, pp count, and the like). Players are ranked via their seeds, and shall face each other in such a way that the first seed faces the last seed, the second seed faces the second from the last seed, and so on.

How are you going to be informed of your match schedule? ALL OFFICIAL INFORMATION WILL BE POSTED ON THIS FORUM THREAD, SO PAY ATTENTION HERE. ALSO, MAKE SURE TO BE ATTENTIVE OF YOUR FORUM PM'S. Even if we'll post information on the official osu!Philippines Facebook Group, or the Major osu!PH Discord servers (osu!ph@discord, o!m PH v2, osu!minigame PH), if you happen to be part of them, we're not responsible if you don't get the details correctly since we're making sure that the things are properly presented here.
Now for the actual match time. We'll send you a private message in-game when it's almost time, but please, make sure that you don't block non-friend PM's for this, if you do, we won't be able to inform you, and it will be, technically your fault if you don't see the notification. For second measure, we'd send you an invite link to your match, and it's your responsibility to click that and hop in before defaulting time expires. If you still don't pay attention, we'll forcibly move you in the room (though I have to confirm if we could use that certain command). We're not responsible if you don't show up just because you don't have the right information.

I guess that's all for this post.
Is there any here who go church on Sunday in the morning? I'm worried if I get a match on Sunday because Saturday are my free days.

To add to Aries' reply, as much as possible, we'd avoid scheduling matches before 12 noon, even with the very large number of matches that will happen on the weekends (up to 64 matches on the first weekend, if I may add). Now the problem arises IF you're facing someone who's not based on PH but has the PH flag on their profiles (I'm aware that there are s who have that case), then you have to make sure that the staff we'll be informed about your availability (and your opponent's obviously), then we'll try to work things out.

There are also extreme cases where we can allow players to play their matches before the actual weekend, but this will depend on your game mode's tournament manager. (At least for mania, I'll allow these special matches as long as you ask for my approval.)
*breaths in*

here we go boiz
*sigh*

Well, time for practice.
And BTW, thanks. So there is no need to worry.

Thread bump since stuff happened, and to formally end the tournament.

Okay, after SEVEN weeks of competition, the osu!Philippines Holiday Friendlies 2017 has concluded. We have seen very competitive matches (when matches actually happened) across all four divisions we held. It had been not easy for all of us, staff and players alike, but thank you for participating in our largest undertaking as a community.

Now as the guy who had this tournament as an original concept of some sorts (format and stuff), I'd personally like to give my thanks to the following people who have helped made this thing a possibility: (brace yourselves, WALL INCOMING)

Lobsterr - The manager that shows up when he can. Thank you VERY much for helping manage the game mode I am not that familiar with, Catch the Beat. I know that you were worried about the player turn-out on your division, but ends out that your division has apparently the best turn-our of all four divisions held!

A special mention goes to the following people for providing the Quality™ mappools in this tournament. Without you guys, the tournament might've not been as successful as this.

osu!standard

  1. Mira-san
  2. konawiki
  3. Nitrous
Here are the guys you'd tend to spam mentions on Discord just to finish the standard mappool, and would actually deliver even if they'd just work on it for like 3 or 4 hours total in the weekend. I have no idea on how you guys do it, but MASSIVE props to you guys.

osu!catch

  1. Lobsterr
  2. Chloebe
  3. MaMaiPonc
For the fruit-catching people, I was REALLY surprised about how you guys already had a mappool up until the FINALS, of all stages, for this tourney, and you guys barely had time to access the selection sheets I made. Thank you guys for being part of this team.

osu!mania

  1. Lenfried-
  2. JztCallMeRon
  3. Raveille
  4. snexe
  5. juankristal
Well, since I know how you guys worked with me throughout the selection process, my message will be slightly longer. Okay, so we had the task of constructing mappools enough for TWO tournament divisions, the 4K and 7K divisions, specifically. We even had the job of creating notecharts for the qualifying stages of the two divisions, and I have no words on how all of us delivered even with the pressure. Even with our experience with selection, and even one of us actually selected for one edition of the Mania World Cup, things were still hard for us, but we still pulled through and I appreciate all of your efforts.

Another notice box is dedicated to our team of referees who maintained order throughout all 155 matches held across all four divisions. Only those who actually referee'd are mentioned. Might've missed a few names.

Hues

And this box goes to the staff who go on the more... public part of the tournament, the Streams!

MaMaiPonc

Your insights on your respective game modes during your stints on commentary has been very valuable to the experience. Thank you very much for being part of the team.

OsuMe65

The guys behind the very eye-catching graphics used on the tournament. Things would've been really boring to look at without your help.

Now with all of them covered, it's time for us to congratulate the following players who have climbed through their competition to get the laurels of their achievement.

osu!standard Division 2c494t

🥇 FIRST PLACE = xX_MusicMan_Xx (Profile Badge + Two months of osu! er)
🥈 SECOND PLACE = Hecs (One month of osu! er)

Note: Due to unfortunate circumstances, this is the official result of the osu!standard division, despite the brackets on the information posts reflecting otherwise.

osu!catch Division 3r5y1a

🥇 FIRST PLACE = Roido (Profile Badge + Two months of osu! er)
🥈 SECOND PLACE = - Kielzu - (One month of osu! er)

osu!mania 4K Division 23144v

🥇 FIRST PLACE = bojii (Profile Badge + Two months of osu! er)
🥈 SECOND PLACE = exodia3000 (One month of osu! er)

osu!mania 7K Division 6t1626

🥇 FIRST PLACE = MapleSyrup- (Profile Badge + Two months of osu! er)
🥈 SECOND PLACE = bojii (One month of osu! er)

To the people who followed the tournament, the players who ed, and to everyone involved pretty much, Thank you very much for being part of this undertaking. The success we had isn't possible if it were not for all of our efforts together. Until next time! (And hopefully we can actually get osu!taiko be part of this)
